Sex Tips for Pandas Diary – August 22nd
August 22, 2008
Just two live shows to go until our festival ends but we’ve at least three podcasts and a vodcast to come – but here’s a summary of what you’ll find in the shows that have gone online over the last few days.
Programme 16:
An exclusive interview with Robin Ince, recorded after his Sunday afternoon show at The Dragonfly finished. Robin reminisces with Georgina about performing plays together at university, and talks about the Free Fringe, podcasting, and some of British television’s current comedy output.
Our special guests are:
Davis Wateracre from Pegabovine: Polite Club
Pleasance Courtyard, 13:30, until August 25th, tickets from £7
and
Jake Yapp, whose PBH Free Fringe solo show, Bum Notes, is on at The Dragonfly at 16:20 until August 23rd, so if you’re coming to see us, why not stop by and see him, and enjoy the sumptuous surroundings and fabulous cocktails at The Dragonfly between shows.
Plus we say hello to Rob Martin.
Programme 17:
A complete run-through of the Sex Tips for Pandas story in preparation for the publication of Sowerby & Luff’s book next spring. Plus your e-mails, Dead Penguin, and how to make a Sowerby & Luff Big Hitter cocktail.
Programme 18:
Our guests are Simon Lilley, appearing in Edinburgh-on-Sea at Sweet Grassmarket Swimming Pool at the Apex International Hotel until August 24th. Tickets start at £8 and the show begins at the rather precise time of 22:38. You can also see Simon as part of Comedy Bank at The Standing Order until August 23rd at 13:30 – like us, it’s a PBH Free Fringe show.
Dan McKee, who is appearing with Pab Roberts in Sad Frankie at The Dragonfly nightly at 21:50, again as part of PBH’s Free Fringe, until August 23rd.
Plus more from the Royal Mile, where Brian meets:
Crave – 3Bugs Fringe Theatre
Sweet ECA, 15:15, Until August 25th, £8
Christie in Love – Boomerang
Zoo Southside, 14:45, Until August 25th, £7
I Kissed a Frog and it Gave Me Herpes / Waxing Cynical – Chesterlass Productions
Laughing Horse @ Espionage, 13:45 / 17:10, Until August 25th, Free non-ticketed
…And Other Stories – Durham Revue
Underbelly, 14:30, Until August 24th, £10
Programme 19:
From the studio, the tale of the worst pizza restaurant in Edinburgh (and possibly the entire country), plus our views on the if.comedy award nominations.
On the streets, there’s chat with stand-up David Meech, who can be seen in Comedy Bank at The Standing Order (see detail as Simon Lilley above) and The St. George’s Medics Revue, who are performing Puppets on Prozac at Sweet Grassmarket until August 25th. Tickets are £8 and the show starts at 17:20.
Plus Vonny Lee Lucas (aka Hayley Jayne Standing) stops by The Dragonfly for her only 2008 appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Programme 20 will be on the feed later this afternoon with highlights of last night’s show at The Dragonfly including sets from stand-ups Lorcan McGrane and Chris Martin, plus more vox pops from those still eagerly flyering up at the Royal Mile.
Our show at The Dragonfly tonight will feature short sets from Paul Conneely, Eric Kirchberger, and Paul Ricketts. We’ll be starting at 18:40 – hope to see you there.
